ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITS

A, B, and C Category Permits for Polluting Activities

A, B, and C Category Polluting Activities Permits

In Latvia, the prevailing regulatory framework requires most manufacturing companies and certain service sector businesses to obtain polluting activities permits. These permits, issued by the State Environmental Service's Regional Environmental Board according to the planned activity's region, establish limits for polluting activities and reporting procedures for the company's impact on the environment.

Given the requirement for a comprehensive and detailed application covering all aspects of environmental impact that a company may have businesses are often advised to consult with experts specialized in preparing these submissions.

In its experience, SIA "Ekodoma" has collaborated with over 100 companies to prepare applications for A, B, and C category polluting activities permits. This collaboration continues when updates or amendments to existing permits are needed, as well as in preparing reports for environmental institutions.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Permits

In Latvia, the most characteristic companies requiring such a permit are heating supply companies with an input thermal power exceeding 20MW. However, greenhouse gas emissions permits are necessary for any stationary technological equipment involved in one or more of the polluting activities listed in Appendix 2 of the "Pollution Law" (totaling 28).

A greenhouse gas emissions permit is also required for companies that have previously received A or B category polluting activities permits.
